About Me
Hello! I guess this is the place where you find out a little bit about me huh?
Ok, here's the (not-so) condensed version. My name is Chandra Moore, I grew up in So Cal then moved to Western Wa when I was a teen. I fell in love with parts of Washington but my heart has always been in Cali.
My dream as a little girl was to act for movies and tv. I went on an audition for a commercial when I was 5. All I had to do was say "Daddy, I don't like mushrooms" well I HATE mushrooms so that should be simple enough for an opinionated, outspoken child right? Well, apparently I'm only opinionated and outspoken once I'm comfortable around you (well at least at 5 I was) so that was a bust. My mom waited for me to bring up wanting to do it again and I never did, so that was that.
In High School I did a couple plays through my school. I loved it, but when rehearsals conflicted with my sports commitments I had to back out. The day I pulled out was the day I found out I would have been the wicked witch in "Snow White" which was the roll I wanted, that really bummed me out.
After graduation I became really involved in my church. I love serving people and I love God, it was a match made in heaven. I served in all sorts of capacity's till I was once again drawn to the arts and found myself in a 3 year internship with the Creative Arts Director. During those 3 years I wrote a little, directed a little, created LOTS of video content, AD'ed our annual Christmas show seen by audiences of 25k+. And helped co-produce "KIDstuf" a 45 minute weekly stage show for families. Towards the end of our 3rd year doing "KIDstuf", my mentor and friend who directed the ministry unexpectedly left the church for personal reasons.
I took the summer off to evaluate my next move and ended up returning that fall to once again pursue my first artistic love, acting. For a year I performed and developed the character of "Tara" an aspiring movie director with a big heart, lot's of passion and more than a few disasters on her road to success. It was a blast, I had more fun performing than anything else "behind the scenes" I had done in the 3 years prior. At the end of the season it was decided to not continue with KIDstuf and shut it down. At the same time I was laid off from my full time paid position at the church.
I started evaluating what I really wanted to do and it all kept coming back to acting, production, tv, film, anything production & creative. Living in Seattle I knew the opportunities were limited but I started thinking about ways to somehow get involved in the acting scene there.
Then in February 2009 my grandmother had a moderate stroke. My mom and I hopped a plane to SoCal that very next day and in the following days we realized she would need help and most likely would never be able to live on her own again. Unemployed, and wanting to move back to the area someday anyway I decided to make the move and also begin pursuing my childhood dreams to act professionally.
*Phew* So here I am. In the very beginning stages of "Walking the Road" to become a working actor. I know it won't be easy, but the rewards of just deciding to pursue this dream which has been in my heart for so long are enough for me to sacrifice what I need to make this a reality. Thank You for hanging in there with me this long, I look forward to getting to know some of you better and hopefully getting involved in the production of Lombardi Street in some way!
